My family is one of the most important things in my life. We are nothing special, yet extrodinary. There are times when I think that my family is the only one that loves and cares the way we do. Even knowing it cannot be rated that way, just feeling it shows that we have a bond.
My dad moved to Oklahoma forever ago. I have no idea how long ago. He'd cry, we'd cry every time it was time to go home after a visit. Kacey recently told me she still does... but that is Kacey for you!
Kristi moving to New Jersey was heart-breaking. Some people just didn't get it. I think they probably thought I was a little emotionally unbalanced... I mean tearing up every time someone brought it up... I called Shane when he was on the road driving up while Kristi stayed in Houston to sell the house and tie up loose ends. I could barely hold it together and it really wasn't "the move" yet. I know that my closeness with her doesn't rely on distance, but why... why did she have to get pregnant with her first baby after she was in the Garden State?
Then I made my big move to the ATL this June. The weekend Dan came in to help me pack the u-haul and drive to GA, I had several family dinners. One night Dad, Kacey, Lindsey, MC, Aunt Judy, and Uncle Kenny went to eat. Judy said, "What will you do without the kids? What will the kids do without you?" Leaving my niece and nephew was seriously harder than leaving anyone else. I was lucky enough to be so involved with their lives.
Now Mom... she's wonderful, annoying, wonderful. She's the one that would get to me when I'd call or webcam someone from home. I was stupid enough to not even realize she'd be the one.
Daily it is no big deal. This is my life. This is the man I chose... we'll, I think he was chosen for me! I survived my first two holidays away from home. Getting a text message with a picture of the fam holding a sign for me brought a few tears to my eyes, but I made it through.
The reason I'm even focused on family for my 1st post is I got a phone call I'll never, ever forget. On my way to work this morning, about 6:15, Kristi called me. She said she hasn't been able to think of anything for days other than how much she missed me. She wanted to know what I could arrange to so I could visit if she bought me a plane ticket. Her birthday is tomorrow, yet all she can think about is getting me to New Jersey to spend time with her.
It is wonderful to be loved, to know you are loved, to be able to love. I love my family.

Okay I think my comment may be as long as your post but I don't care.
ReplyDelete#1 I'm gearing myself up to let Angelo see this picture of your family. He had a serious crush on Kristi back in school and if I even mention your name he has to tell me about how fine (yes, he says fine) she was. He tells me like its new news and yet he has told me that 50 billion times.
#2 Your niece and nephew are so big! I can't believe it! And they are both beautiful! Its funny b/c in Lindsey I see her dad and in MC I see more of your family.
#3 Kacey & Kristi look fantastic!
#4 That sign makes me remember ya'lls handwriting. (Do you remember mine and how horrible it was)? I always wished I could write like that.
#5 You do have a great family. They were always so nice to me. Me and my sisters were never nice to eachother's friends. Seeing that picture is stirring up quite a bit of emotion for me. I LOVE YOU KIMBLEYS!!!!!!!
P.S. I really hope you get to take a trip up to see Kristi soon. There is nothing in the world like sisters.
One more thing,
ReplyDeleteSeeing Kacey smile like that and Aidan grabbing her head makes me think she's about to laugh and I always LOVED the way Kacey laughed. I'm imagining it right now and it's making me smile.
